i have a 08 venture lite and a 08 nytro. have noticed that when the weather gets very cold out the fuel pump doesn't make a sound when i go to start them. The only way i get them to go is to warm up the fuel pump relay in my hands. After i rub the relay i could hear the pump come on, then i start it.
ANyway the reason im writing is because i put desiel fuel in my venture lite by mistake. it ran ok but couldn't idle. i drained the tank and filled it up with gas. Still smells bad, and won't idle, need to give it a little throtle to let it run. what should i do.

Hey Jimmie my first inclination is to recommend you get it into a dealership. The relay we know about and the part has been updated with varying reports of success. The fact the sled still smells of diesel tells me you haven't got rid of it all which might explain the poor idle. The engine will be running very 'lean' with the oil replacing fuel. Hopefully when the oil is out of the system, the idle will be back to normal. It may be as simple as a fouled plug. I have no idea what havoc this may have reeked on the various ECU sensors, or if any permanent damage has occurred, again, you dealer may have some better insights when giving the opportunity to inspect the unit... good luck cheers cr

Hi i have a Venture GT 2009 that cod 43 comes up on the dash what is code 43 mean ?

Code 43 indicates the ECU cannot read the voltage to the fuel system due to an open circuit or short.:Something is up with the power source for the fuel circuit. cr

Chris I sorry it is code 42 and 84. obviously the replacement of the ECU did not fix it, albeit it did work for 30 minutes. Is there anything that would cause the ECU to fail such as a short somewhere?

Code 42 is the 'speed sensor', check the end of the main shaft beneath the secondary, make sure the wires and sensor are good and the bearing isn't pooched. I would not assume the ECU has failed but if so, it has a 30 day parts warranty if the dealer recently replaced (if I'm not mistaken), in which case you better move on it quickly. I'm thinking you have something else wrong in the system, bad sensor, short, or other illusive gremlin... good luck cr

I have as 08 Phazer MTX which was showing code 24 and 84 dealer replaced the ECU box and after 30 minutes on the mountain it is doing it again. Will not throttle properly bogs and is difficult to get going?

I checked with service, told there is no code 24 but 84 indicates TORS (throttle override), make sure the throttle cable is correctly adjusted but sounds like another trip to the dealer is in imminent... cheers cr

I have a 2006 VK Professional and am having numerous Code 84 (TORS) shut downs. Could you tell me what the solution might be. Thank you.

Could be throttle cable adjustment, switch or processor (ECU), best get you dealer to check it out and contact our servie people if they are unsure of the cause or coverage... cheers cr

i bought a 09 yamaha venture it will not go in to reverse all the time

Yep, the mechanical system doesn't always mesh and may require just a touch on the throttle to line things up. I actually brought up the subject today with engineering. Make sure the linkage is adjusted correctly and your idle isn't too high as having the clutch loaded won't help but for the most part it is the nature of the beast. I'll keep on the subject with service and planning... cheers cr

Recently purchased /05 RX-1 snowmobile. Orange light on dash comes on when riding but more so when idling. No manual with machine. Can anyone please tell me what this is and why does it stay on. Machine otherwise running great. Also 3a llight. One is highbeam what are other 2?

The orange light is a warning telling you to look for an icon on the guage that indicates your problem. It could be low fuel, low (cold) temp, engine, or TORS, suggest you drop by adealer and see if they have an old manual you could copy or search over at Totallyamaha for a manual download which I have seen available (theres always google...)

forgot to mention that i had not ride the sled in three weeks and had washed it and then left it outside over that time. When i tried to start it , the temp was only about 5 above f with a wind chill of 5 below for a few days , wondering if the battery just got drained
